| what is a 'keystroke logging application' ? |
| a keylogger (keyLogger, key logger, or keystroke logger) is a program that runs in the background, recording all the keystrokes. Once keystrokes are logged, they are hidden in the machine for later retrieval, or shipped raw to the attacker. this can include credit card numbers, and any other information being entered into an internet form. |

| spyware is defined as any software that covertly gathers user information through the user's internet connection without his or her knowledge, usually for advertising purposes. spyware applications can be installed remotely through web browser flaw exploitation, and can also be found bundled as a hidden component of freeware or shareware programs. |
